Is Buddhism A False Religion?

Issue

Buddhism was formed with a philosophy that was respected by many over the years. However, are the principles made by its founder truly that profound and worthwhile for mankind to follow?
Solution

The doctrine proposed by Buddha is primarily based on human suffering. The individuality of a person results in limitation, limitation results in desire, and desire results in the cause of suffering. A person's soul doesn't actually exist because a person is in a continuous process of change from various experiences, ideas, and sensations. Essentially, people exist in a state of nothingness, since nothing is self.

Despite such negative thoughts on life, many people follow this doctrine and turned Buddhism into a cult-like following. What is lacking is the consideration that a higher-evolved being may be wiser and more knowledgeable than an ordinary person like Buddha.

This should be apparent when comparing the guidelines of the doctrine with a monotheistic religion. Essentially, which would be better: follow the teachings of an ordinary man's understanding on life, or another who actually designed it? Follow the observer or architect?

In truth, the fundamental principle of Buddhism (nothing is self) is rather depressing, and the only reason why it has been successful over the years is because it preyed upon the vulnerable in society.
